Have finally got round to straighteneing out my '75 Rallye 2 after its early 2014 'argumemt' with a wall. After removing front panels, quite a bit of panel beating was needed to get inner wings and lower 'boot' floor to line up with new panels. In one picture is the front of my '56 Aronde Grand large waiting its turn for some attention.
Upper front panel in place...wings still need to be bolted up to it. Lower front panel had to be adapted from a standard (rear radiator) 1000 panel to Rallye 2 spec. with an air intake hole and grille plus various other vents and drillings.
It's back on the road...!! But let itself down on its first long run. On the way to a MATRA Club meeting, the alternator adjuster link broke, losing the belt on the M1. The spare fan belt I had turned out to be for an early model 1000...too short..!! An AA truck took me home and I resumed the journey in my 1100GLX. Now sorted, It was the only SIMCA at yesterday's 'Motornutz' Classic Car Show near Sheffield. Parked near a Lamborghini Aventador and a Ferrari it caused loads of interest in its own right'
After Bank Holiday Sunday's dashes up Shelsley Walsh Hill I parked the pickup, trailer and racer up and spent the Monday in a more leisurely way. We took my roadgoing Rallye 2 and brother Kev's 1200S coupe to the Classic Car Show at Thoresby Hall in nearby Nottinghamshire. There was the biggest tunout of SIMCAs there (Three when Wayne Parkinson turned up in his 1000) since we had a club stand as part of our National weekend a few years ago.
