I believe that it is intended for the Club to have a presence at the Bugatti Owners Club "La Vie en Bleu" event on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May at Prescott.
Just wondered if plans had been confirmed and if there was a limit on the numbers of entries. If possible, I would like to bring my 1985 Talbot Horizon 1.3 LS (25K miles and 1 owner from new prior to myself). Not quite sure who was organising this?
We usually have a club stand at La Vie en Bleu at Prescott. i'll contact them about our presence there again this year. they normally position us next to the MATRA Club stand, with whom we share several members. I'll include details of advance bookings/ entry for the concours & cavalcade in the next L'Aronde once Prescott send me the info. Numbers on the stand shouldn't be a problem. I normally ask for space for 10 cars but, as various other classic events clash, we haven't reached that number in previous years. I normally go just for the Sunday when the main French Car action takes place. Club member Gerard Magro will be competing on the hill in the SIMCA-CG spider he had on our stand at the NEC. Hopefully it will be a drier day than in the picture taken a few years ago. Mick
Update on SIMCA at La Vie en Bleu....... I have booked us club stand space for 12 cars. Prescott have sent me some advance tickets on a sale/or return basis. Most members have usually attended on the Sunday which is the main 'French Car' day. I have 5 tickets for the Saturday available @£15 each and a larger number for theSunday @£15 each. Those booking for the two days pay £25. There is also a windscreen parking pass this year to ensure your car is directed to the Clubs area. I'll send those out to members booking tickets. If you have booked independently with Prescott and haven't received a windscreen pass, I have extras and will send you one. To reserve your ticket(s) contact me.... Mick Ward details In L'Aronde or pm me for address etc. to send cheque. I have indicated that up to 5 of our club cars may enter the lunchtime cavalcade.... We will be given indemnity forms and wristbands at the event. Gerard Magro, one of our members from France will be competing on the hill in his SIMCA-CG Spider. Mick
I now find that I am working throughout the Bank Holiday weekend and so will have to pass on this event this year. I may be able sneak away for a couple of hours on the Saturday, but best wishes to those who are attending with cars. If the weather stays fine, Prescott is a magical place.
Spare a thought, however, for their near neighbours - The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway - who are keeping alive the sights and sounds of the GWR. Last year they experienced two disastrous embankment slips which has currently left the railway in two sections. The GWR team is ploughing on with rebuilding but desperately need funds to help. I am sure that anyone attending La Vie en Bleu will be reminded of this.
It's apity you and the pullman will not be able to make it to 'La Vie en Bleu'. Most of us will be there just on the Sunday. The Husbands will definitely be there all weekend though. I must make time to explore the railway one of these times when I'm at Prescott. Last wednesday, David Chapman and I ( both railway as well as SIMCA/TALBOT enthusiasts) met with staff from the Midland Railway centre here in Derbyshire to discuss arrangements for our National meeting on Sunday 26th June. The area we'll display our cars looks impressive and there's access to a number of extensive engine sheds and road, rail and even fork lift truck museum buildings. Half price tickets will be available for train travel (We're promised a steamer) on production of membership card, I'll include more info in the next L'Aronde (Due out early June) and post it up here.
