I have finally uploaded some pictures of my work so far and today have found out the extent of the chassis rust.my question is what gauge steel should i use for the chassis repair and should i square the holes off and butt weld rather than try to plate over the top wgich i find very difficult. any help and input appreciated its a lonley world in that garage.haha.
Hello with further investigations I have decided upon 2mm thick steel looks to be bether than what I have left. I have a problem how can I compress the leaf springs where they are (the car is on its side on a rollover jig) so pumping up a jack from below wont work.Ihave taken the nuts off but the bolts wont move think they must be seized or under pressure,would like to find a way to realese the pressure before I take the angle grinder to the bolts.I would use a hgv nylon load strap but i dont have a top anchor point.would a couple of large g clamps one each side do the trick. any ideas appreciated.
