Rescued from 12 years 'festering' in a Windsor garden. It was bound for the scrapman. The wings and many outer parts have survived quite well. Having been left for all those years with a door half open, the footwells are predictably 'Fred Flintstone' spec and the interior has fallen victim to mice and the damp. Have recently got it back home from brother Kev's...who's been storing it for me. Got the 1290cc engine running today after replacing a duff coil. It runs quieter than many 70's & 80's cars i've had from the range and cooled spot on over a half hour's running. Shouldn't really be starting another project before the 1200S is finished but... it was there so I had to have it. Mick
The car is the one that appeared on here a while ago under 'Aronde Elysee'. It had been imported into the Uk in 2000 and only ever had one MoT over here. It was run for less than a year and then joined the collection of cars including, jag XJS, Opel Monza etc parked up in the owner's garden for the last 12 years. Moving it was not easy. Eventually with all 4 brake drums removed it was freed from the undergrowth.... so free running in fact that it slammed into the rear hatch of my Espace. Plastic panels spring back to shape... unfortunately the rear window didn,t..!!! The tough old Aronde was unmarked other than a broken numberplate. Priority on reconstruction it to reinstate the footwells and replace the sills which look as if they were already 50% filler when it was imported. Some new parts like a recored radiator were fitted when it was fist imported. although brae seals, pipes etc will need a thorough going over. Mick
Never did get this project started. I'm currently having a 'fleet reduction' which means the Grand Large project, one of my track SIMCA 1000s, a part built Honda twin cam transplant and my one and half 'dead' Mk 2 Renault Espaces are up for sale. I have a buyer for the Espaces and parts, someone interested in the track 1000 and have had a few enquiries so far about the Grand Large. I'll put an ad. on here too. The eventual aim is to have the space to complete my 1200S coupe and the Rallye 2.
